McMinnville Physical Therapy offers Aquatic Therapy by performing exercises in a comfortable water temperature of 92 degrees to further ease the aquatic therapeutic process.  There are a multitude of conditions that benefit from aquatic therapy such as arthritis, chronic pain, balance deficits, scoliosis, reduced weight bearing injuries, increased swelling, etc.

The primary benefit of choosing aquatics over traditional land based therapy is the assistance provided through the buoyancy of the water allowing for less stress on the joints resulting in reduced pain and increased ease of movement.  There is also a resistance component through the viscosity of the water allowing for muscle strengthening.  The combined buoyancy and resistance allows for the perfect setting to improve strength and movement with less joint stress.

For patients that are deemed appropriate for and complete aquatic therapy during their plan of care with us, we also offer an aquatic-maintenance program following discharge so that patients can continue to benefit from their aquatic exercises at their own pace.
